Independence Day

Happy 4th!

Thrilled to be in a free America and very grateful for the sacrifices other people have made in order to keep us free.

Freedom always requires sacrifice. If you pass up responsibility, you pass up your freedom.

The grace of God is a free gift via the responsibility that Jesus took in walking a blameless life and dying for our sins in our place. That death means we get access to His character. We are no longer bound to our lower natures. “Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.” “There is therefore, now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free… from the law of sin and death.”

So, now as free people, what do we do?

We design our thought patterns; we design our lives; we design our finances; we design our health; we design our friendships. Do you want money? Stop spending it. Do you want to develop your talents? Risk, learn, fail, love, promise to enjoy your every waking day. David said in the Psalms: “Teach us, Oh Lord, to number our days.” While we are taught to count, we are taught to enjoy.

You who are young, be happy while you are young, and let your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.
Ecclesiastes 11:9

While you enjoy your life to the fullest, remember that God does instruct us on how to live.

He is Alpha. All knees will bow to Him. He is holy. He is Good. He is love. He died for you to be able to conquer sin and death in your own life and to have “LIFE and Life abundantly.”  He has an order for how life is supposed to work. This includes marriage, this includes finances. He’s not afraid of your brain and your ideas. Come, take your 40 billion neurons and reason with the Creator of the Universe. He’d love that. Come on. Do you think your brain power intimidates Him? Not at all! We are to be fully functional creatures and that includes the use of our stellar brains.

So, Jesus is the ultimate Judge. At the end of the age, all that you have done will be weighed. Do we step on the scale with Jesus? If we do, that means that we give all things to Him. “We are not our own, we were bought with a price.” “Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and in all of your ways acknowledge Him….”

Part and parcel of being a part of Him is to be with Him–to walk by His standards, His ways, listening to Him and clear biblical teaching. “Build yourselves up in your most Holy Faith.”

That also means He is interested in your development as a human being that understands their boundary lines. One who understands that they are an individual as well as a part of a community, the Body of Christ.  One who develops themselves economically, spiritually, emotionally, intellectually, physically… and one who is able to rightly divide the Word of God from the perspective of The Alpha.

For it is the grace of God that teaches us to say no.. and it’s the grace of God that teaches us to say YES. For.. for every promise in Christ Jesus there is a YES and an AMEN. Amen is sort of like: so be it. Or, if you like Capt. Picard: Make it so!

“Bless Thou, Oh Lord, the works of our hands.”

He is a good Father. He will correct you when you are wrong; He will bandage you when you are broken; and He will let you know when you are driving down the path of destruction. Trust His Word. Trust that He is Good. He loves you so much that He gave up His own walk for you… for His Father.. for what was right. And the Father gave up His own Son.. for you. The Father chose you over His own Son. Yes, that’s right. Now, choose you this day… choose…. to walk after His steps. Whether you are rewarded only in Heaven.. set your eyes on the things above. At the same time, put your hands to the good work here. “Whether we live, or whether we die, we are the Lords.”

Psalm16: “…4The sorrows of those who have bartered for another god will be multiplied; I shall not pour out their drink offerings of blood, Nor will I take their names upon my lips. 5The LORD is the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You support my lot.6The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.…”

The Lord is your inheritance. And at the same time, go get your mountain, Caleb! Remember Caleb in the Bible? Remember that even though he was older, he conquered and tackled his land? GO GET IT BOY! GO GET IT GIRL!  Love, Amy
